The Cathedral

The Cathedral is modelled on a church in England, at a place called Snettisham, Norfolk. The stone used in the windows also has an exotic source. It was extracted in France, near the city of Caen. It needed to be strong and uniform to carve the intricate patterns in the windows. Local stone here is not sufficiently uniform.

EXERCISE: Is the stone in the walls the same stone as used in the windows? Do you have any idea why/why not?
